Our brochures for our Incoming Freshman Team camp and 10 -12 Team camp is located in the summer camps tab. Team Camp will be held at Blue Valley High May 28, 29 & 30th. Camp will go for three days from 8:00 am – 10:00 am for freshman and 10:00 am - 12:00 pm for 10th - 12th graders. Also our workout schedule for June is also above.
Our Team Camp is a very important 3 days. As your son will go through intensive training that is essential to improvement and to compete at the high school level. Over the course of the three days, the coaching staff will work with the incoming freshman and learn specific skills such as our offensive team concepts, team defensive concepts, drills and competitions.
We will cover all of our concepts, philosophies on defense and offense over these three days. It is a great opportunity for the coaching staff and myself to observe and coach your son within our drills, concepts and actions.
The other attachment is the rest of June workouts. We will be in the gym everyday Monday – Friday in the morning, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Depending on the gym schedule with volleyball and girls basketball we may all be together in one gym (9th – 12th) or split into separate gyms. These days will depend on what we have ahead of us. We will work on offensive plays, out of bounds plays, defense etc. We will usually do individual skill drills for the first hour and scrimmage/practice the second half of practice. These workouts will consist of individual shooting drills and team scrimmages and practices.
We did our best to not overlap with football workouts- that being said…
We understand that your son may not be able to attend every workout because of football etc; we just expect them to communicate with a coach if they are to miss. We know a lot of kids are also playing football so if they are too miss a workout etc, we expect them to communicate with a coach ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
You will also notice in the middle of June there is the Blue Valley West league in the evening. We will put together two freshman teams and will let the kids and parents know the teams and cost by the first week of June leading up to league games, more than likely Tuesday, June 11, we will let kids know. There are a total of 8 games and the cost per player is around $65 but that may change- we will get that info to you ASAP when we get the schedule for the games. Not all players will be on a team, some players will sub etc. We will communicate all of that with the parents and players the second week of June. We will provide jerseys also for the teams.
Also, it is important to note that we only do workouts in JUNE, no workouts in JULY, this is also KSHSSA based on KSHSSA rules for high school sports. June has been exempted from all AAU basketball teams etc. and is a time for high schools to work with their kids. July is not. July is a time that our kids are gone with baseball, basketball, family trips etc. We also know that your son may miss some of June because of other sports or family vacation, that is totally fine and will not hinder his tryout in November for the high school team.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding June. We greatly look forward to getting to know your son and coaching him as well this summer.
